Weight Watchers (WW) is unveiling new program changes and I am excited to discuss those changes today.  The new program is called the MyWW Program and gives you weight loss options to choose from.  Learn more about each plan option below.

If you are thinking of joining Weight Watchers (WW), I would highly recommend it.  I love the plans and can’t wait to really start focusing on my health again after baby (toddler).

The new MyWW Program has been announced and gives you 3 different plans to choose from to lose weight. Now you are in control of your weight loss journey with the flexibility to choose your own plan.

What are the new changes for 2020?

The new program is called the MyWW Program.  What I find interesting is that WW is putting you in control of what plan you can choose from.  You have 3 options (more on those below) to choose from, but it’s awesome that you can choose between different types of plans.

These options make the weight loss experience much more customized to you and what works for you.  If I have learned anything from the Facebook groups that I follow, the results of the different plans vary widely among users.

What are the new MyWW Program options?

You have 3 options to choose from.  The new plan options listed below:

1. The Green Plan – Beyond the Scale Smartpoints

  • Fewer ZeroPoint foods
  • More daily Smartpoints

2.  The Blue Plan – WW Freestyle

  • Equal ZeroPoint foods
  • Equal daily Smartpoints

3.  The Purple Plan – Simply Filling

  • More ZeroPoint foods
  • Fewer daily SmartPoints

The Green Plan:

This plan is much like the Beyond the Scale Smartpoint plan.  This plan includes over 100 Zero point foods including fruits and vegetables.  This was the most successful plan to me personally and possibly the one that I will be choosing (now that I get that choice!).  I was able to lose over 40lbs on this plan before I got pregnant.

This plan provides more accountability and ownership since you need to track almost everything that you put in your mouth.  With this plan, the daily points allowance is higher. It will start at 30 Smartpoints daily.

This plan also comes with weeklies and Fitpoints.

The Blue Plan:

This plan is much like the current WW Freestyle plan.  This one includes over 200 Zero point foods including lean protein, fruits and vegetables.

This plan gives you a lot of freedom to track only when you know points are being used for different foods, but you can still eat whatever you want.

There is a minimum daily points allowance of 23 points, which will adjust up based on weight, lifestyle, and activity.  There will also be weekly points and Fitpoints.  This pan is the same WW plan as you have now.

The Purple Plan:

This plan is similar to Simply Filling with a unique SmartPoints Budget plus 300+ ZeroPoint foods including fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains.  Potatoes and whole grain rice and pasta are ZeroPoint™ foods on Purple too.

This plan provides the most freedom of the three plans.  The minimum daily points is lower at 16 points but it also includes weeklies and Fitpoints.

More information about the 3 new plans under the MyWW Program.

Common Questions about the MyWW Program:

How many daily points are allowed on each plan?

The Smartpoint values will be different depending on what plan you choose.

Green Plan: Minimum 30 daily Smartpoints plus weekly Smartpoints and Fitpoints
Blue Plan: Minimum 23 daily SmartPoints plus weekly Smartpoints and Fitpoints
Purple Plan: Minimum 16 daily SmartPoints plus weekly points and Fitpoints

Can I change my plan after I sign up?

Yes!  You can change plans to any of the 3 options.  Weight Watchers (WW) suggests, however, that you wait at least 2 weeks to see results on the plan that you choose.

Do all 3 plans still use Zero Point Foods?

Yes, all 3 plans utilize Zero Point foods. Each plan differs in what zero point foods are available to it.

What are the Zero Point foods on MyWW?

With the new MyWW Program, zero point foods will change depending on which plan you follow.  In general, the Green plan will include fruits and vegetables. The Blue plan will include fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, eggs, and legumes. The Purple plan will include fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, legumes, eggs, and some whole grains.

All plans include some zero point, low calorie drinks like black tea and coffee and condiments such as mustard and vinegar.

What about the recipes on Dash of Herbs?

At this time (and mainly because these plans are personalized to you), I am going to keep all of the recipe points at WW Freestyle.  Even though I will probably be following the Beyond the Scale plan, I want to keep the points as is for WW Freestyle.  That might change as we use the newly created plans, but at this time, I will be keeping all recipes as is.

Final Thoughts:

These new plan options make me so excited to get back into losing weight.  I have been having a hard time getting back in the swing of things because I need the structure and discipline of the Beyond the Scale plan.

I personally never was able to keep Freestyle going (even though I tried), so I am excited to officially go back to the older SmartPoints plan (Go Green!).

I also am thinking of doing a post about the challenges of losing weight (and cooking in general) with a toddler, a full time job and a husband.  It’s not impossible, but we have really struggled to find a balance that works for everyone and allowing me to cook healthy foods.

There is a reason why I am currently unable to lose this weight (I have about 40lbs to lose) and I know exactly what I need to do to lose the weight…but saying this doesn’t make it happen, right?  I

have to follow the plan and cook healthier foods again to really see the results I am wanting to see.  It’s hard to chase a toddler running around!

What are your thoughts on the new plans?  Do you like the option of freedom when it comes to your weight loss?
