Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/2 cup onion finely chopped
  • 15 oz can tomato sauce
  • 2 Tablespoons tomato paste
  • 3 Tablespoons sugar free syrup
  • 1 1/2 Tablespoons molasses
  • 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon low sodium soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/8 teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions

  • In a medium-sized pot, add the olive oil, garlic and onion. Cook until the onion is soft and translucent. Add the rest of the ingredients including the spices and bring to a boil. Once it's boiling, lower the heat and simmer for about 10 minutes or until everything has combined.
  • Serve immediately or allow to cool and store in the refrigerator for about a week.

Notes

You can use pure maple syrup if you want, but that might change the Freestyle point value.
